you can also do CoF (cathedral of flames). the hidden treasure chests give a random chance for a ruby/sapphire/other item/gold. doing this is so-so, the drop rate for rubbies and sapphires from this method is somewhat decent.

I think Daze presented the best way to farm them. I would also add that to ruby daggers and other weapons you should apply (if possible) measure for measure Inscription for higher chances. I noticed that the gems drop from:
- Treasure chests in NF (rarely but they do, got 3 rubys from them already) - Hidden treasures in GWEN dungeons - random drop from a monster. Apparently Elemental bosses in old ascalon are believed to drop them in a noticeable rate - I was killing them during elemental run and I got 2 rubys from them so far (around 30 runs). Never a sapphire dropped for me but I saw them dropping once during a fow run and more or less they have the same pattern of dropping as rubys. |

Maybe I'm just lucky but i got 2 rubies from Stone Scale Kirins in Arborstone yesterday (HM ofcoz). Maybe there is some connection between granite and ruby/sapphire dropping from certain monsters... (granite in NM/HM, ruby/sapphire in HM) just wondering...

No really effective way to farm them. Ive gotten mine with the occasional drop during UW or buy salvaging does gemmed items, which those items can be obtained by doing chestruns in vabbi (work on TH title also).
Farm the money and buy. |

the best place for me was to farm wardens in the kurzick areas for both rubies and saphires, theydorp quite alot

ok ty everyone. what i've heard the most out of reading all this was: just farm UW and buy them. dont waste the time trying and trying to farm them. ty all
